According to a report from Deloitte, 67% of business leaders in 2023 felt concerned about the threat of climate change and the environment most or all of the time. In 2024, 70% expressed that climate change would have a high or very high impact on their business’s strategy and operations within the next three years.
This is an increase from 61% in 2023.
However, many of these same business leaders and owners are not aware of the environmental impact of the entities they bank with, often assuming their money is sitting peacefully in a safe and secure vault in some undisclosed location.
Sadly, nothing could be farther from the truth.
Many of the world’s biggest banks are actually using the money businesses and individuals store with them to invest in fossil fuel expansion, which is polluting our atmosphere, boosting global temperatures, and increasingly causing climate chaos, regardless of how many politicians deny this undeniable fact.

In May of 2024, Forbes Magazine reported how “in the seven years since the Paris Agreement was adopted, the world’s 60 largest private banks financed fossil fuels with $6.9 trillion,” this despite the International Energy Agency’s assertion that there is no more room for new fossil fuels if we aspire to achieve net zero carbon emissions by mid-century.
On a positive note, in recent years there has been an emergence of banks that are actually committed to investing in renewable energies and other positive causes, such as Triodos Bank of the Netherlands and Tomorrow of Spain.
In the US, there is Beneficial State Bank, which serves customers on the west coast.
Stratik Group International, which has been in the business of providing an array of digital services (SEO, branding, digital marketing, website development and optimization, etc.) to companies of all sizes for over 15 years, is currently banking with Climate First Bank while also providing discounts and perks for clients in the renewable energy and plant-based food sectors, along with charitable organizations.
